FAQs

Are your patterns difficult to stitch?

Most of the patterns are done in blackwork technique. Blackwork implies stitching in straight stitches with a single thread, following a chart on a checked chart, similar to a cross stitch chart. Otherwise the patterns can be compared to backstitching, and do not require experience with any special embroidery stitches.

What is a half stitch or fractional stitch?

This means that if you are stitching on Aida fabric, you would need to insert the needle in between the small squares on fabric, or in the middle of a square. If you use evenweave fabric, you just follow the chart, counting 1 square on chart for 2 threads on evenweave.

What fabric is recommended?

For most of the patterns we recommend Aida 14 count. If you choose evenweave, we don’t recommend going any smaller than 16 count due to the amount of details.

What thread is recommended?

The easiest choice is DMC, namely DMC 310 for Tarot and mandala patterns. However, many blackwork artists use different threads, from silk varieties to common sewing threads.

How long does it take to finish a pattern?

A Tarot card can be normally stitched in a day or two, depending on the design.
